Nigerian Navy Decimates Notorious IPOB/ESN Suspects, Destroys Explosives In Imo State

In a sting operation by personnel of Naval Base, Oguta Tactical Patrol Squadron of the Nigerian Navy, has led to the elimination of two members of Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) with their Improvised Explosive Devices destroyed.

Disclosing this in Abuja on Monday, the Director of Information (DINFO), Nigerian Navy, Captain Abiodun Abidemi Folorunsho explained that it was a major operational success that galvanized in the clearance operation in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

He revealed that the operation was jointly carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, which led to the clearing of suspected IPOB/ESN hideouts within the Orsu–Ihiteukwa axis, including the Mother Valley general area.

During the operation, it was further learnt, troops encountered multiple Improvised Explosive Devices, confirming the presence of an active IED network.

“Subsequent exploitation led to the discovery of an IED-making facility, where naval personnel executed a coordinated ambush, neutralizing two IED specialists, Capt Folorunsho added.

Meanwhile, all the recovered explosives have been safely destroyed in situ, eliminating potential threats to both civilians and security forces.

Therefore, the Nigerian Navy, once again reemphasizd its commitment to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-driven operations, in collaboration
with other security agencies, to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace in the region, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho reiterated.
