37 Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai Students Bag First Class Degree

… as four prominent Nigerians bag Phd honorary degrees

No fewer than 37 undergraduate students of the Niger State’s owned  Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University(IBBU) Lapai have bagged first class degree in various departments as the university  holds its 4th combined graduation on Saturday, 20th May 2023.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, made the disclosure on  Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the IBBUL’s Guest House   in Minna the state capital in  a pre – convocation press briefing  .

He stated that almost all the first class graduands are female, saying  that “it is gratifying to note that girls have taken up the academic excellence of our university.”

According to the VC, “a total of 5,719 students will be graduating for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic sessions.  37 of them made first class, 954 got second class upper while 3,283 made second class lower.” He added that 1,538 other students got third class.

Prof. Adamu  said, “17 other students were withdrawn from the university, for drugs and cult-related offences.

He stated further  that four prominent persons were scheduled to be honoured with the Honorary Doctorate degrees of the university at the convocation ceremony.

Those to be honoured, according to him, are Plateau State Governor, Mr. Simon Bako Lalong, , Honorary Doctorate Degree of Administration; Colonel Sani Bello, (rtd)Chairman, Mainstream Energy Solutions and the Father of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, (the outgoing Governor of Niger State),  Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters, Malam Ibrahim Aliyu, Chairman, Aliyu Trust Foundation, Honorary Doctorate Degree of Entrepreneurship Development; and Alhaji AbdulSamad Isyaku Rabiu, Chairman, BUA Group, Honorary Doctorate Degree of Business Management.
