The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office.
The group made the endorsement when its National Executive Committee paid a courtesy call to the President in Abuja.
The President however charged IPMAN members to help tackle fuel smuggling, noting that smuggling of petroleum products from Nigeria to other neighboring countries was constituting a serious economic sabotage.
Buhari also enjoined the group to help expose the smugglers, adding that IPMAN is a major body responsible for the flow of Petroleum Products across the nation, controlling 80 percent of investments in the downstream sector with over fifty thousand members scattered throughout Nigeria.
National President of the group, Chinedu Okoronkwo, thanked the President for his support to the industry.
He noted that the country was faced with frequent problem of petroleum products supply before Buhari’s administration which problem has since been surmounted.
He also said that the sector was enmeshed in deep corruption before the Buhari’s administration came on board which issue has also been surmounted.
