FG Information App For Launch December 15<\/h1>\n

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has announced\u00a0that the Federal Government Information App (FGIAPP) will be launched in\u00a0Abuja on 15 Dec. 2016<\/span><\/span>, as part of efforts to enhance the dissemination of\u00a0government activities.
\nThe Minister made the announcement in Abuja on Thursday<\/span><\/span> at a meeting\u00a0with Resident Information Officers (RIOs) from Ministries, Departments\u00a0and Agencies ahead of the launch.
\nHe said with the Information App, the Federal Government is leveraging\u00a0the New Media to communicate government\u2019s policies and programmes to\u00a0the people anywhere in the world and on real time basis.
\n\u201cWe as a government and as Information Ministry will leverage on the\u00a0unique technology to inform the world about what we are doing. With the new App, it means anybody anywhere in the world will get to know,\u00a0real time, what is happening in Nigeria at least from our own
\nperspective and narrative,\u201d Alhaji Mohammed said.
\nHe said the activities of the present administration are hugely\u00a0under-reported, hence the need to align with the global trend in
\ninformation sharing.
\n\u201cThe information architecture has changed completely\u2026Today, the\u00a0story is very different because we have the New Media, and unless you
\nshow a very strong presence there, you are not communicating to the\u00a0world,\u201d the Minister said.
\nAlhaji Mohammed stressed the essence of rich content to make the App\u00a0viable, and said the necessary training and working tools will be
\nprovided for the RIOs in order to build their capacity and ensure\u00a0effective contributions from their respective Ministries. Departments and Agencies.
\nIn her remarks, the Director, Information Technology in the ministry,\u00a0Mrs. Veronica Adeyemo, said the App will be a cache of timely and credible information that will drive the authentic narrative from the\u00a0side of the government.
\nA statement issued by S.A to the Minister, Segun Adeyemi quoted the App Developer, Mr. Olawole Falope as saying it will be another veritable platform for Nigeria to blow its trumpet.
\n\u201cThe truth is if you heard only one side of the story, you make your\u00a0decisions based on just one side. It\u2019s about time that our great
\nnation Nigeria starts to speak and we have to speak to the world,\u201d he\u00a0said.
\nHe noted that most of the information being put out about Nigeria is\u00a0either false or outrightly fabricated, hence the need for the
\ngovernment to reverse the ugly trend.<\/p>\n
