{"id":9708,"date":"2016-11-25T14:41:18","date_gmt":"2016-11-25T13:41:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=9708"},"modified":"2016-11-25T14:41:18","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T13:41:18","slug":"sec-takes-step-at-improving-financial-literacy-launches-capital-market-journal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/sec-takes-step-at-improving-financial-literacy-launches-capital-market-journal\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC takes step at improving financial literacy&#8230;&#8230;  Launches capital market journal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/SEC-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-8298\" src=\"http:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/SEC-logo-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"SEC logo\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>SEC takes step at improving financial literacy&#8230;&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Launches capital market journal\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Securities and Exchange Commission is set to improve the financial literacy of Nigerians as poor financial literacy has been identified as one of the factors responsible for the low level of financial inclusion in the country.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Mounir Gwarzo at the launching of the Nigerian Journal of Securities Market (NJSM) in Lagos Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Gwarzo said the launch of the journal is one of the steps being taken by the Commission to address this gap.<\/p>\n<p>According to him &#8220;As part of the SEC mandate to develop the Nigerian capital market and by implication the economy, the Commission is putting all energy, resource and time into implementing the Nigerian Capital Market Master Plan<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The SEC has focused on several financial literacy initiatives as part of its market development drive&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The DG said efforts are being made to boost financial literacy among young people with school programmes, literacy week and a capital market curriculum.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>He said the journal represents another milestone in the endeavour of the SEC to fulfil its Capital Market literacy master plan whose major recommendation is developing a regular and up to date publication and journal on capital market operations.<\/p>\n<p>Gwarzo said &#8220;The Nigerian Securities Market Journal (NSMJ) is a periodic multi-disciplinary journal that will serve as a platform for disseminating information and research on the Nigerian Capital Market. The journal will publish original evidence-based papers on capital market activities<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It aims to revamp capital market information, serve as evidence point and re establish SEC as the knowledge bank of the capita market.
