High profile corruption cases crawling or gone to sleep\u201d gave a graphic detail of the alleged embezzlement investigation of which may have since gone under the carpets.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, anti-corruption watchdog, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) established by an Act of the Federal Government has continued to fight to get justice against corrupt individuals in Nigeria with little achievements.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary findings from Owasanoye\u2019s research revealed that regular occurrence of high level corruption in Nigeria leading to endless prosecution may have been burdensome for the EFCC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EFCC appears to be overwhelmed by the high incidence of corruption in Nigeria today.\u201d The report also revealed that \u201cThe existing prosecutional machinery appears to be inadequate to meet current challenges,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n<p>Owasanoye\u2019s publication also revealed that the judicial process in the country has made room for endless prosecution of cases of corruption in the courts. According to the publication, \u201cThe judicial process, including practice rules and directions allow accused persons to endlessly rigmarole the justice system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stressing further the lapses in the judicial system, the report made public the conspiracy between judges and lawyers to frustrate cases brought before them bothering on corruption. \u201cSome lawyers and judges conspire to frustrate rather than advance justice through frivolous applications and adjournments, respectively,\u201d it published.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>The preliminary observation also stated the failure of the legislation to juxtapose criminal justice administration with current tendencies and challenges. The report observes that, \u201cThe legislature has failed to bring our criminal justice administration in line with contemporary challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPoor funding contributes in slowing down EFCC\u2019s operational and prosecutorial mandate.
