With a view to fulfilling his promises and determination to assist the government in curbing land grabbing menace within the zone, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 2 command, Lagos, AIG Abdulmajid Ali, has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Team of the zone to prosecute some suspected land grabbers who were arrested in Lagos\u00a0on 1st of October,2016.<\/p>\n

The AIG, who had been duly\u00a0informed of\u00a0the activities of some land grabbers at Orudu, Oke Olokun Village, Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, of Lagos State, detailed and dispatched\u00a0\u00a0a\u00a0team of Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Zone 2 Command Headquarters\u00a0to the scene to restore normalcy and apprehend any individual that engaged in such unacceptable act.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0arrival, the team accosted a\u00a0group of hoodlums suspected to belong to two rival land “warriors”\u00a0who were posed to attack each other. However the timely arrival of the police team\u00a0salvaged\u00a0the situation which would have resulted to\u00a0loss of lives and wanton destruction of properties of innocent members of the affected\u00a0communities.<\/p>

At the scene, the team arrested\u00a0one Ibrahim Oduola with a bag on his neck.\u00a0Upon searching the bag, two battle axes, two sharp knives, some assorted\u00a0dangerous charms, and other items were discovered.<\/p>\n

The suspect confessed that he went with\u00a0other members of his gang,\u00a0with\u00a0the recovered dangerous\u00a0items, to Oke Olokun Village to repel attacks\u00a0from the rival group. Oduola’s arrest\u00a0led to the arrest of two\u00a0other suspects —\u00a0AbdulAfeez Oduola and Joseph Akintunde.<\/p>\n

The suspects\u00a0have all been charged to court as directed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police on Wednesday October 4,2016.<\/p>\n

The police boss, who frowns at land grabbing and land speculation will not relent on\u00a0making the zone unsayable for any individual or group of persons who promote such illegal and inhuman acts within the zone. \u00a0He urged the general public to report any act of land grabbing to his office for necessary action.<\/p>\n
