Insecurity: Niger police command establishes joint operation centreIn line with the directive of the incumbent Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim K. Idris’s for Multi- Agency Collaboration in fighting crimes and criminality, the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Police said it has adopted same mechanism in fighting crimes in the state.<\/p>\n

The Police Public Relations Officer Niger State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana told news men on Tuesday in Minna that the collaboration requires men of the command, Army, Airforce, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration Department of Secret Service, Customs personnel and the Vehicles Inspection Office working together in unison.<\/p>\n

He said the new innovation culminated in the establishment of a Joint Operation Centre at the command headquarters in Minna, where officers and men of all the security agencies in conjunction with the Police, work on 24 hours basis to combat crimes.<\/p>\n

He said heads of operation of all security agencies. In Niger state and the State’s Police Commissioner, Alhaji Zubairu Muazu as chairman formed what he considers as \u2018Strategic Team\u2019 which meet regularly on the way to tackle an emerging crime and deploys men appropriately.<\/p>

\u201cAll the arms carrying agencies bring arms in the event that such operation is tactical in nature and will require arms,\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n

He said the innovation has created a synergy between all the security agencies in the state , which are working together for the same goal of bringing crimes and criminality to the barest minimum .<\/p>\n

DSP Elkana said the operation has started yielding. Positive result with a number of raids in hitherto notorious troubled spots in Tungan Mallam, Paikoro Local Government and Alawa area in Shiroro Local Government of the state based on intelligence reports that suspected criminals dislodged from operations in Zamfara and other parts of the North were taking refuge in the state.<\/p>\n

He said some arrests have been made during the raids with some of the suspects still under investigation.<\/p>\n

He said the synergy between the security agencies occasioned by this initiative has led to intelligence sharing that was hitherto nonexistent in the past.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
