\n\u200eThe\u00a0<\/span>federal government is planning to increase school enrolment in the country by\u00a0<\/span>13.6 million children by the year 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Focal\u00a0person of the federal government’s Social Intervention Investment Programme for\u00a0Niger state, Mrs. Afiniki Dauda has said.<\/p>\n

Mrs.\u00a0Dauda who stated this in Minna the state capital also disclosed plans by the\u00a0President Muhammadu Buhari -led administration at the Centre to ensure that the\u00a0pupils were physically and mentally fit to face the rigours of not only
\neducation but life itself.<\/p>\n

The Focal\u00a0person who however could not give actual figure of children presently in\u00a0schools across the nation, said, \u201cthis is one of the reasons why the federal\u00a0government introduced the home grown school feeding and Health Programme and\u00a0other social security schemes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dauda\u00a0exchanging views with some selectef journalists after assuming office as the\u00a0Focal Person for the federal government programmes in Niger state on Wednesday
\nsaid the Muhamadu Buhari – led All Progressives Congress( APC) administration\u00a0is also determined to bring back into the school system 11.4 million children\u00a0mostly girls.<\/p>

The\u00a0federal government is worried over the gender discrepancy in school\u2019s enrolment \u00a0which tends to favour the male against their female counterpart, Dauda said,
\nadding that the policy would, \u2018prepare them for tomorrow and discourage them\u00a0from being involved in crime\u2019.<\/p>\n

Niger\u00a0state office of the federal government\u2019s agency, according to the Focal Person\u00a0had taken off, adding that the first activity to be performed is the flag-off\u00a0the empowerment scheme for which participants in its first phase have been\u00a0selected.<\/p>\n

Participants\u00a0were drawn from the three senatorial zones of the state based on the statistic\u00a0on the poor and vulnerable of the society as recently provided by the World\u00a0Bank, Dauda also pointed out just as she failed to give the exact number of\u00a0beneficiaries under the first phase.<\/p>\n

Dauda,\u00a0who was however, quick to add that the agency would be fair to all stakeholders\u00a0said the federal governments\u2019 empowerment scheme in Niger would be flagged off\u00a0next week because, \u2018President Buhari is seriously committed to wiping out\u00a0poverty from our country’.<\/p>\n
