{"id":8462,"date":"2016-09-21T08:52:07","date_gmt":"2016-09-21T07:52:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=8462"},"modified":"2016-09-21T08:53:15","modified_gmt":"2016-09-21T07:53:15","slug":"selling-nlng-other-national-assets-to-boost-economy-unwise-rmafc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/selling-nlng-other-national-assets-to-boost-economy-unwise-rmafc\/","title":{"rendered":"Selling NLNG, other national assets to boost economy, unwise- RMAFC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has advised the Federal Government against advice from some Nigerians to sell the multi-billion dollar Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) to raise funds for the ailing economy.<\/p>\n<p>While the Federal Government thinks through plans to raise between $10 and $15 billion \u00a0(about N4.72 trillion) to boost the economy, prominent Nigerians have suggested the sale of some national assets to achieve the aim.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udoma and Chairman, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote have been named among such Nigerians in favour of sales of some national assets to help the economy.<\/p>\n<p>However, Dangote in his proposal suggests the immediate sale of the NLNG and other assets that could raise the fund to be invested into the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only way for us to get out of this recession is to make sure we move into action quickly; by diversifying the economy quickly.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIf I had challenges in my company, I would not hesitate to sell assets to remain afloat, to get to the better times. It doesn\u2019t make any sense for me to keep any assets and then suffocate the whole organisation,\u201d Dangote told CNBC Africa, adding that, \u201cWe have a lot of assets to sell. We can sell part of the joint ventures, or part of the shares. My suggestion before was that they should even sell 100 percent of NLNG.
