{"id":8006,"date":"2016-07-29T14:42:38","date_gmt":"2016-07-29T13:42:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=8006"},"modified":"2016-07-29T14:42:38","modified_gmt":"2016-07-29T13:42:38","slug":"workers-task-fg-on-n5-3-tr-pension-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/workers-task-fg-on-n5-3-tr-pension-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"Workers task FG on N5.3 tr pension funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Worried by the continued insolvency currently being experienced by\u00a0most state in the country, the National Delegate Conference (NDC) in\u00a0Abeokuta, Ogun State, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria\u00a0(ASCSN) has appealed to the Federal Government to offer \u2018adequate\u00a0protection\u2019 to the N5.3 Trillion workers contributory pension funds.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a conference held on Wednesday, President of ASCSN, Bobboi\u00a0Bala Kaigama said the fund is \u201cpurely workers money meant to be used\u00a0to offset their terminal benefits when they retire\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Kaigama, who spoke on sundry issues said: \u201cWe are, however, worried\u00a0and disturbed that government functionaries are now making persistent\u00a0efforts to lay their hands on the contributory pension funds in the\u00a0name of funding infrastructure.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe say capital No to this retrogressive move. Our officials need to\u00a0understand that the pension funds are not idle funds, but are funds\u00a0invested mainly in safe instruments like money and bonds markets. We\u00a0make bold to say that our country is not yet ripe for utilizing\u00a0pension funds for building infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Federal, States and Local Governments are corrupt and incompetent\u00a0in recovering public funds. We therefore strongly advise Government to\u00a0look elsewhere to raise funds for their projects.
