\nThe operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police\u00a0Command over the weekend arrested 59 suspected social miscreants\u00a0during a raid on criminal hideouts and black spots in the State.<\/p>\n

The raid was part of the routine exercise of the RRS on suspected\u00a0black spots in the State to check criminal activities as well as\u00a0restore orderliness in crime and violence prone areas.<\/p>\n

The suspected criminals were picked up between the hours 2400 hr and\u00a00200 hr in Oshodi, Ojota, Oregun, Mile 12, LASU\/Iyana \u2013 Iba junction\u00a0and Mile 2 after repeated surveillance of those areas by the RRS\u00a0Intelligence Teams.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that some of the raided points were place where members\u00a0of the public volunteered information as crime spots and have been\u00a0confirmed to be black spots by the Police, who monitored the areas\u00a0days before the raiding.<\/p>\n

Out of 59 suspects picked up from various parts of the metropolis from\u00a0the raiding, 46 were released to their relatives after thorough\u00a0screening by the RRS investigators.<\/p>\n

13 suspects, who investigators confirmed were drug addicts,\u00a0pickpockets and with questionable source of livelihood have been sent\u00a0to the State Environmental Taskforce for prosecution.<\/p>\n

In another development, the outfit is currently questioning two\u00a0suspected cultists, who were arrested along with 12 other suspects\u00a0raided in Oregun.<\/p>

The suspected cultists; David Seun (17) and Ahmed Sulaiman (17) have\u00a0confessed to be members of 12 \u2013 man cultist gang terrorizing Oregun\u00a0and Olusosun.<\/p>\n

David, a taylor stated that he was forced to join the cult gang by his\u00a0friend, Sadiq. \u201cHe invited me out and I was initiated in Oregun High\u00a0School, Oregun. He added, \u201cKehinde is the leader of the cult group\u00a0\u201cEiye\u201d. He lives in Ikorodu but I don\u2019t know his house.<\/p>\n

He explained further, \u201cHe comes to our meetings occasionally. It has\u00a0been long since I saw him. The group took all I had on me the day I\u00a0was initiated. They took my money, N6000, my phone, wrist watch and my\u00a0shoes. We meet at Ita Egbe in Oregun. Other members of the Eiye Cult\u00a0group in Oregun are: Ayo, Eyo, Bobo Olusosun, Last Born, Don Banny,\u00a0Elewedu, Two Yansh, Pepper, Little 9 and Akube. We meet at 7:00 p.m.\u201d.<\/p>\n

On his part, Ahmed Sulaiman, an orphan, who was on apprenticeship\u00a0under David, said he was forced to join the group by his boss, David.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, police are on the trail of other members of the cult gang,\u00a0the suspects disclosed exist in Oregun and its environs.<\/p>\n
