…says fake text message in circulation is mischievous<\/p>\n

The Nigerian Naval Headquarters, Abuja has disassociated the force from a fake text message which emanated from fraudulent miscreants asking successful candidates to report to military training at the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Onne, Rivers.<\/p>\n

It said that such statement didn’t come from the Nigerian Navy but from fraudulent miscreants whose intention is to dupe some unsuspecting applicants and misguide them.<\/p>\n

The statement added that the exercise conducted by the Navy for which resumption is expected has not been officially released by the Nigerian Navy, and when that is done, they would resort to the known usual channel of communication to get successful candidates informed.<\/p>\n

In a press statement signed by the Director of Information (DINFO), Commodore Ayo-Vaughn in Abuja explained that to perfect their acts, “the criminals further claimed in the text message that the Exercise will commence on 6 October 2023 at NNBTS, Onne.<\/p>\n

“The fake text message being circulated by these dubious entities further reads that, \u201cRecruitment Interview conducted from 1 August 2023 \u2013 1 September 2023, I am delighted to inform you that you have been selected to attend training at the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Onne, Rivers State with effect from 1 March 2023, Please check www.joinnigeriannavy.com for further instructions.<\/p>\n

“For avoidance of doubt, the Nigerian Navy (NN) has concluded the NNBTS Batch 35 Recruitment Exercise conducted from 12 August to 1 September 2023 across 3
\nmajor centres in the country namely: Lagos, Rivers and Kaduna States respectively.<\/p>\n

“Accordingly, the NN wishes to once again use this opportunity to inform members of the general public that the list of successful candidates has not been released and no form of invitation for training via text message has been disseminated by the NN.<\/p>\n

“The alarming rate of circulation of fake information by unscrupulous individuals regarding enlistment\/ recruitment into the NN is quite worrisome and every effort is being made to track and arrest the miscreants.<\/p>\n

“Members of the public especially prospecting applicants who participated in the said Recruitment Exercise are strongly enjoined to
\nalways authenticate information from the NN official website https:\/\/www.navy.mil.ng
\nand other official NN social media handles as well as other credible mainstream media
\nplatforms.<\/p>\n
