First lady of Bayelsa State, Dr(Mrs) Gloria Diri has commended the retiring Chief Judge of the state, the Hon. Justice Kate Abiri for her selfless service to the state and humanity.<\/p>\n

\"\"Mrs Diri gave the commendations on Sunday at the state headquarters of the Greater Evangelism World Crusade(GEWC) Church, Opolo, Yenagoa at the thanksgiving ceremony held as part of activities marking the retirement of the State Chief Judge.<\/p>\n

She described Justice Abiri as a friend, mother and sister who has impacted lives she had had contact with positively, noting that God used the retiring Chief Judge to swear-in her husband and Governor of the state in 2020 after the Supreme Court upturned the 2019 Bayelsa Governorship election to the favour of Governor Douye Diri and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).<\/p>\n

\"\"Mrs Diri said: “The Chief Judge of the state is my friend, mother and my elder sister. She has been so helpful to my husband, the Governor of the state, Senator Douye Diri.<\/p>\n

” In 2020, God used her to swear-in my husband, our Governor. She advised me well and she is such a humble, courageous and caring mother.<\/p>\n

\"\"“She rendered her services to God, the state and humanity selflessly and meritoriously, and now she’s retiring. There’s cause to glorify the Lord. She has been so supportive of the prosperity government of my husband, the Governor, Senator Douye Diri”.<\/p>\n

\"\"Meanwhile, in his exhortation, the International Director of the Greater Evangelism World Crusade (GEWC) Church, Pastor Isaac Olori has described Judges and the adjudication of Justice as a divine call.<\/p>

He noted that God in his wisdom Judges over the affairs of men, saying however that God gives special attention to whatever our relationships with one another as humans entails and would serve us justice at the end of our lives on earth.<\/p>\n

The clergy cautioned against the subversion of justice, emphasizing that after God, Justice is the only hope of the common man and down trodden, hence it is expected of Judicial office holders to be bias-free in the delivery of Justice.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Church’s International Director who stressed the need for honesty and dilegence described Justice Abiri as a worthy ambassador of the church and christendom, this was just as he again adviced public office holders to lead an examplary life worthy of emulation in the society.<\/p>\n

Highpoints of the ceremony were the inspection of guard of honour by the retiring Chief Judge, as well as Biblical first and second lessons reading by the Chief Judge and others.<\/p>\n
