The lives of 10 crew members of a fishing Trawler were saved on Monday, 7th November, 2022 as personnel of the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, within the Lagos channel rescued them from their Capsized trawler.<\/p>\n

\"\"Confirming the rescue, the Command Information Officer (CINFO), Western Naval Command, Apapa, Commander Edward Yeibo in a statement said that the fishing trawler christened OLOKUN XII had capsized within the Lagos channel.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that the capsized trawler OLOKUN XII was being towed by her sister trawler OLOKUN IV within the Lagos channel when the vessel collided with a merchant vessel MSC CORUNA, leading to the capsize of the Fishing Trawler OLOKUN XII.<\/p>\n

“Fortunately, NNS BEECROFT patrol team were on routine patrol which led to the prompt rescued of 10 crew members from the trawler. Thereafter, the rescued crew were handed over to the officials of the company, named Barnaly Fishing Company Limited.”<\/p>

While commiserating with the Fishing Company on the sad incident, the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, Commodore Malami Haruna urged sea-farers to navigate with caution in consonance with the international regulation for prevention of collision when transiting within the nation\u2019s maritime domain.<\/p>\n
