The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Obinna Ajunwa has charged officers and soldiers of the Division to perform their duties within the limits prescribed by law.<\/p>\n

He admonished them to portray the NA in good light during the conduct of internal security operations and Peace Support Operations.<\/p>\n

Major General Ajunwa who was represented by the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General Danladi Abdullahi gave the charge during the sensitization workshop organized by the Army Headquarters’ Department of Army-Civil Military Affairs (DCMA) on enhancing the professionalism and responsiveness of the NA Soldiers.<\/p>\n

According to the GOC, this is to reposition the NA for better performance.<\/p>\n

Gen Ajunwa stated that the NA is currently conducting internal security operations across the country with other security agencies, therefore, a high level of discipline and professionalism are required from each soldier at all levels to ensure a successful operation.<\/p>

He added that this is in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff of having “A professional Nigerian Army Ready to accomplish assigned mission within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria”<\/p>\n

During the workshop, several well-packaged and thought-provoking lectures were delivered. These include the legal status of a soldier, core values of the NA; Laws and Principles of armed conflict; Fundamental human rights under the 1999 Constitution; and principles of laws and justification for the use of force.<\/p>\n

There was also an interactive session where participants cleared their doubts on some legal issues concerning their assigned duties during Internal Security Operations.<\/p>\n

Present at the workshop were the Team Leader of the delegation from Army Headquarters DCMA and the Deputy Director, Civil Sponsor Desks, Colonel Mathais Amatso, Major Celestine Madu, Lt Marian Iruh and officers, as well as soldiers drawn from formations and units under 81 Division.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
