…Warns Private Mortuary Operators against Hazardous Environmental Practices<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch of the programme in Yenagoa, the state’s Commissioner for Environment, Hon.Iselema Gbaranbiri tasked citizens and residents of the state to take serious the tree planting policy of the State Government.<\/p>\n

National Wire which monitored the tree planting exercise reports that the state Commissioner for Environment on the mandate of the leader of the state’s ‘prosperity government’, Governor Douye Diri have severally engaged Environmental stakeholders in numerous tree planting exercises, just as the partnership with the Pure Green Initiative has commenced along the new gate way road at Igbogene Communitiy in the Yenagoa council area of the state.<\/p>\n

National Wire learnt that the tree planting programme of the Governor Diri’s Prosperity administration which was done in partnership with ‘Pure Green Africa Initiative were parts of efforts at greening the State while also curbing the menace of climate change.<\/p>\n

Gbaranbiri said: “This is one of the many approaches of the Governor Douye Diri’s-led Prosperity Administration to combat climate change.”<\/p>\n

Gbaranbiri stated that the trees will serve as catalysts to filtering the already polluted air with the potential of trapping excess carbon in circulation ,resulting to heat waves and ocean rise amongst others.<\/p>\n

The Environment Commissioner added thus: “This is the first phase of the greening plan and the government is committed to do more to transfer a healthy environment to the younger generations as time progresses.<\/p>\n

“I call on the Igbogene Communitiy to own the project, have patience and love for the environment, Bayelsans will certainly testify of the indispensable benefits of tree planting as these and many other trees we’ve planted in the life of this administration would later tell us.”<\/p>\n

In same vein,the Bayelsa Environment Commissioner have also sounded a note of warning to invaders and those who engage in indiscriminate tree felling and logging to steer clear of perpetrating the dastardly act on the government planted trees.<\/p>\n

He stressed that anyone caught sabotaging the efforts of government in this course by way of destroying or cutting down the trees in any part of the State would incur the full wrath of the State government.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, Mr God’spower Ikegwuru, who represented the partnering organization, ‘Pure Green Initiative thanked the State government for the initiative, stating that the partnership will see to planting of eight thousand five hundred tree seedlings across the State.<\/p>\n

In a related development, the Bayelsa state Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Iselema Gbaranbiri has tasked private mortuary owners and staffs to maintain global best practices in their operations.<\/p>\n

Gbaranbiri gave the charge at an urgent meeting he had with owners and operators of private mortuary facilities in the state at the Ministry of Environment, State Secretariat, Yenagoa at the weekend.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner who frowned at the proliferation of mortuaries in various parts of the state without government approval stated that his meeting with operators became necessary as findings from investigations carried out on the activities of mortuary operators at his disposal has it that some of the operators and staffs do not stick to global best practices in their operations.<\/p>\n

He warned that upon his meeting with operators, if further investigations still finds them wanting in any respect in their operations, especially as regards the safety of the Environment, the owners of such mortuaries and operators would be made to face the wrath of the law, including shoting down of their facilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
