The fire was said to have occurred in an illegal bunkering site situated at the boundary between the two States leading to the death of men, women and children in their hundreds.<\/p>\n

Most of the victim’s were burnt beyond recognition today, 23rd April, 2022.<\/p>\n

Confirming the development, the state spokesperson of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), DSC Olufemi Ayodele expressed sadness in the unfortunate incident.<\/p>

According to the Rivers State Commandant of the Corps, Abu Tambuwal condemned the act of sabotaging the economy of the nation, environmental degradation, fire outbreak through oil bunkering activities.<\/p>\n

He affirmed that the Command would not leave any stone unturned in the fight against illegal dealings in petroleum products, oil theft and illegal bunkering activities.<\/p>\n
