… Modular Floating Dockyard in good shape<\/div>\n

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Bashir\u00a0Jamoh\u00a0has commended the Nigerian Navy for its continued support to the Agency over the years.<\/p>\n

The DG who said this when he met with the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard Limited, Rear Admiral\u00a0Kohath\u00a0Levi on a working visit,\u00a0particularly\u00a0appreciate d the Nigerian Navy for hosting and securing the Agency\u2019s floating dock since its arrival in the country.<\/p>\n

According to Dr.\u00a0Jamoh,\u201cWe appreciate the Nigerian\u00a0Navy for making available its facility for the Floating Dockyard since arriving Nigeria. This has ensured absolute security of this facility and as we all can see, the Dockyard is in good shape.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NIMASA DG also used the opportunity to undertake an on the spot assessment of the floating dock noting that efforts to put the facility into use have reached an advanced stage.<\/p>\n

While receiving the NIMASA DG and his team, Rear Admiral\u00a0Kohath\u00a0Levi assured that the Nigerian Navy would continue to support the Agency,\u00a0bearing in mindthat\u00a0safeguarding the Nigerian territorial waters is a collective responsibility of all critical stakeholders.<\/p>

When finalized, the floating dockyard is expected to bridge the dry docking facilities gap in the Nigerian maritime industry as well as\u00a0raise additional revenue for the government.<\/p>\n

The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission ICRC had described the Floating Dockyard as a profitable investment by Government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Federal Government had given approval for the Transportation Ministry\u00a0to deploy the asset on a\u00a0Public Private Partnership,\u00a0PPP, basis and\u00a0NIMASA\u00a0is working in conjunction with the Nigerian Ports Authority to utilize facilities at the Continental Shipyard in\u00a0Apapa.<\/p>\n
