The Atlas Lions of Morocco have started their African Nations Cup campaign in Cameroon on a bright note after defeating Ghana\u2019s Black Stars by one goal in Yaound\u00e9 Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Ghanaian displayed a free flowing West African football style of play for 90 minutes but couldn\u2019t locate the back of the Moroccan net.<\/p>\n

However, the Moroccans proved a better side which eventually showed in the score line but much more than Boufal\u2019s 83rd<\/sup> minute goal, the North Africans created so much chances during the game with twelve shots from the Lions as against five from the Black Stars. The Moroccans however had three of the 12 shots on target while the Ghanaians had only two on target.<\/p>\n

Ball possession was 62 percent to 38 percent in favour of the North Africans who also were superior in ball possession with 62 percent. By all statistics the Atlas Lions were the better side during the encounter. The Moroccans had 341 passes as against 213 from the Ghanaians who also had 63 percent pass accuracy while the Moroccans had 77 percent pass accuracy.<\/p>

The both teams had 21 fouls each, there were three yellow cards during the match with the Ghanaians having two. No red card during the match which means the both teams played maximum 11 players on each side. Nine corner kicks, five from the West Africans and the only offside offence was committed by the North Africans.<\/p>\n

While the group C awaits its group leader after the upcoming second match between Comoros Island and Gabon, Morocco is leading with three maximum points from one game and Ghana settling at the bottom of the group pending the result of the second match of the group.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
