A native doctor, identified as Benneth Okoli, 49 years old, who specializes in preparing charms for bandits to fortify their bodies against bullets, knives and weapons, has been arrested in Akuma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State.<\/p>\n

The arrest followed recent attack on Omuma Police Station in Oru East LGA of Imo State by bandits suspected to be the remnants of the IPOB\/ ESN terror groups.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that the Commissioner of Police had ordered the Command’s Tactical teams and Special Forces led by ACP Benjamin Osuji of Department of Operations to move to Omuma for a discreet investigation and arrest of the bandits involved in the attack of the Police station.<\/p>\n

“After a diligent forensic and technical intelligence gathering, the team was able to trace the location of the native doctor’s Shrine that has been preparing charms for bandits at Akuma in Oru East LGA of Imo State.<\/p>\n

“Information from reliable source revealed that, the bandits fortified themselves against bullets and knives in the shrine before attacking the police station.<\/p>

The shrine, according to the Imo State Police spokesperson, CSP Michael Abbatam said “it was immediately cordoned and the teams tactically went in, where the native doctor, Benneth Okoli, a male and aged 49 years old of Akuma in Oru East LGA of Imo State was arrested.<\/p>\n

A search in his shrine led to the recovery of the following items: one locally made Improvised Explosive Devices, various charms, and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp in a bag.<\/p>\n

The suspect, on interrogation made useful statements and is currently assisting the police to arrest the remnants of his gangs who are said to be presently on the run.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, while condemning the dastardly act in all entirety, commended the gallantry displayed by the officers and men of the Command urging them to sustain the tempo.<\/p>\n
