One person was killed on Sunday morning at the notorious Otedola Bridge as three vehicles were involved in a crash.<\/p>\n

Confirming the incident, the FRSC Public Education Officer, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi said the crash involved a Mack 20ft containerized truck with two different registration numbers LSD 973 XM and FKJ 214 XY, and two other vehicles: Toyota Wagon with registration number JJJ 28 FR and Toyota Camry BDG 597 CY.<\/p>\n

She explained that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command had received a distress call at 1130hrs about a crash at Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by Otedola bridge on Sunday 18th July, 2021.<\/p>\n

“The crash involved six occupants with one killed while two male were confirmed injured, the injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment while the driver of the Mack 20ft containerized truck allegedly flee the scene before the arrival of rescue teams.<\/p>

However, it was learnt that the combined team of FRSC, LASTMA and rescue team from LASEMA have evacuated all crashed vehicles from the scene.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Sector Commander, FRSC Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide has directed the investigation into the cause of the crash, while the driver who flee the scene of the crash will be apprehended and prosecuted once the owner of the truck is identified.<\/p>\n

Also, the Sector Commander has confirmed the arrest of 3298 trucks and articulated vehicles for various offences in the last six months of the year.<\/p>\n

He reiterated that there is no backing down on battles against vehicles without minimum safety standard on Lagos road. He commiserated with the family of the deceased and wished the injured quick recovery.<\/p>\n

Ogungbemide also advises all truck owners to always maintain their vehicles while other motorists are charged to always obey all traffic rules and regulations.<\/p>\n
