An early morning attempted attack on Sunday on Ashaka Police Station by some enemies of the community has led to the setting ablaze of the state.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that about 0100hours, about 20 men stormed and attacked Ashaka police station with Improvised Explosive Devices while at the same time, they shot sporadically and set the police station ablaze.<\/p>\n

Confirming the attack, the Delta State Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe said the station which was built by the community\/DESOPADEC was burnt down with one patrol vehicle.<\/p>\n

However, “no life was lost and no arm was taken away from the police. We would not relent at ensuring that law and order is maintained in any community,” DSP Edafe explained.<\/p>\n

He further added, “Unprovoked attacks on the police will not deter the force from providing the needed security in any community in Delta state.<\/p>\n

“The hoodlums who perpetrated this dastardly act will certainly not go free, as serious efforts are on to arrest them and bring them to book.”<\/p>

In another development, about 1435hrs on the 5th June, 2021, acting on a tip off the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, deployed joint tactical teams of the command and stormed the hideout of suspected armed robbers\/kidnappers.<\/p>\n

While engaging the hoodlums in a serious gun duel, the joint team killed six of them, while others fled with gun shot injuries into the bush.<\/p>\n

However, one Ak 47 rifle, one pump action gun, one AK 47 magazine with 25 live ammunition were recovered.<\/p>\n

In the same vein, on the same day, about 2130hours, the men of Delta state command while on stop and search duty along Patani-Bayelsa road intercepted a<\/p>\n

On sighting the police, they quickly maneuvered in a bid to escape, but the police went after them and on searching the vehicle, one locally made Barretta Pistol was recovered, and four suspects namely, Efe Oyenikoro \u2018m\u2019 Felix George \u2018m\u2019 Emmanuel Job \u2018m\u2019 Joan Yapiteghe \u2018m\u2019 were arrested.<\/p>\n

The Command’s CP Ali has given marching order to all tactical commanders, DPOS and men of the command to be on their toes, gather intelligence and take the battle to the den of criminals.<\/p>\n
