In order to further strengthen the economy of Kogi State, North Central Nigeria, the state government has constituted an Economic and Advisory Council (EAC) to work with the government on deliberate economic planning. Ambassador Olusiji Godwin Aina is to work as Alternate Chairman of the council.<\/p>\n

In a statement released by the Commissioner of Information, and Communications, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the reason for constituting the Economic Advisory Council\u00a0 was to make available an evidence-driven decision making and rigorous evaluation of the economy.<\/p>\n

According to Fanwo, the Council will systematically take stock of the most recent trends in economic development, applied economic methods; poverty analytics, evaluation methods and modeling, measuring and evaluating development interventions.<\/p>\n

According to the state government, the EAC will advise the state on issues related to growth and development at the Local Government level to include New perspectives on economic development; Innovative approaches to economic growth; Innovations in Program and Project evaluation; Poverty and income Dynamics; Social and Infrastructural Development and the economics of gender; and Other innovations in the field of development economics, growth and evaluation.<\/p>\n

The state government also said convening experts in an advisory role will serve to inform on the success of its economic program development and measurement of results, shape future policy decisions and methodology, and enhance economic programs and economic growth.<\/p>

Stating further, the government said the economic team will serve as a reference group for assessing and advising on methodological directions and innovations for the economic improvement of the state.<\/p>\n

The state is also proud to bring people from its rich deposit of experts who have excelled nationally and globally on the current economic reality with the aim of bringing the finest brains together to move the state forward with the ultimate goal being the need to reduce poverty and underdevelopment in the state.<\/p>\n

The 36 member EAC is chaired by Mr. Aliyu Inda Salami while Amb Olusiji Godwin Aina is the alternate Chairman. Professor Joshua Okpanachi is the Secretary of the group.<\/p>\n
