Emmanuel TV, the YouTube channel belonging to Pastor TB Joshua of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Nigeria, has been suspended for allegedly propagating \u2018hate speech\u2019.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that the channel has over 1,800,000 subscribers and 600,000,000 views before suspension and was among the largest in Nigeria and reportedly the most watched Christian ministry ever on the video-sharing platform.<\/p>\n

Anouncing the suspension on their official Facebook Page, the ministry stated: \u201cEmmanuel TV\u2019s mission is to share the love of God with everyone – irrespective of race or religion – and we strongly oppose all forms of hate speech!\u201d<\/p>\n

It added that the Christian network enjoyed \u201ca long and fruitful relationship with YouTube\u201d and believed “this decision was made in haste”.<\/p>\n

As a result, the announcement has led to public outcry from Joshua\u2019s followers who vented their frustrations on social media about the suspension.<\/p>

“I have followed SCOAN and Emmanuel TV for 18 years and not once have I encountered any form of hate speech,\u201d Suzanne Mare wrote to YouTube\u2019s official Facebook Page. \u201cI find your censorship extremely disturbing!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDear YouTube,\u201d wrote Mr Mutepfe on Twitter. \u201cEmmanuel TV has done nothing but spread love\u2026 Not a single day has the channel promoted hate or prejudice towards any race, gender, colour or creed.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I had depression and attempted suicide twice but after watching Emmanuel TV and realising how much God loves me, my life was saved,\u201d Rita Machipanda emotionally wrote on Facebook, pleading with YouTube to restore the channel.<\/p>\n

“I have nothing again to watch on YouTube,\u201d lamented Mr Gumwesh, adding that the American video-sharing platform would lose a significant number of subscribers if the channel was not reinstated.<\/p>\n

Another user, Ione Malone, announced on Twitter he had started an online petition to see the channel\u2019s restoration.<\/p>\n

YouTube had earlier awarded Emmanuel TV a \u2018Gold Creator Award\u2019 for surpassing 1,000,000 subscribers, an achievement which attracted commendation from the company\u2019s CEO, Susan Wojcicki<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
