Luck ran out on a generator thief this afternoon when he was caught after an unsuccessful operation.<\/p>\n

The thief who identified himself as Tayo Akinsanya was caught at Adeleye Street, Liberty Estate off Peace Estate road, Ikola, Ipaja area of Lagos State with the Tiger generator.<\/p>\n

According to eye witnesses, the suspect was parading the area obviously looking for opportunity to steal.<\/p>\n

“We saw him moving around aimlessly and we know he is not a known face in the area so we were monitoring him,” a resident said.<\/p>\n

When asked where he lives, the suspect, obviously confused mentioned three different places.<\/p>\n

“I live at Ayobo, I am from Lafenwa Abeokuta, I live at Kola around Alagbado area, please have mercy on me,” he pleaded.<\/p>

Meanwhile, residents have called the police in the nearest police station to come for suspect who was already beaten to a pulp.<\/p>\n

The police later arrived but left without taking the suspect along.<\/p>\n

Residents also alleged the suspect lied about his age.<\/p>\n

“He is a smart thief. He is claiming to be 16 years old so he could be treated as a minor. This one can’t be 16,” a female resident said.<\/p>\n

Residents however call on the state government to beef up security in neighbourhoods in Lagos State in order to secure lives and properties especially during office hours when the communities are quiet.<\/p>\n
