The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Bida,Dr. Abubakar Abdul Dzukogi has given kudos to\u00a0 the Federal Government in conjunction with the\u00a0 Federal Ministry of Education for attracting some Seven newly\u00a0 Constructed Projects at the Bida Campus of the Institution,\u00a0 estimated at\u00a0 \u00a0about N1 billion through the\u00a0 Tertiary Education Trust Fund’s\u00a0 \u00a0 (TETFUND)interventions.<\/p>\n

The Rector, gave the commendation\u00a0 \u00a0on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Multi- Million Naira\u00a0 Projects\u00a0 at the Polytechnic in Bida, adding that no fewer than Five TetFund sponsored\u00a0 Projects and two others from Internally\u00a0 Generated Revenues\u00a0 (IGR) that were all meant to\u00a0 provide\u00a0 conducive teaching and learning\u00a0 atmosphere for Lecturers and Students of the Institution have been completed. .<\/p>\n

Dzukogi explained that the projects includes: amongst others a two storeys Administrative\u00a0 Complex extension, executed\u00a0 at N186,271,312.50k, Lecture Theatres and Staff Offices Complex\u00a0 at N133,075,228.25k, while the sums of N225,498, 860.16k was expended on the Lecture theaters\u00a0 and Staff offices complex .<\/p>\n

Others according to Dzukogi,\u00a0 is a 500 – seaters capacity\u00a0 Computer Based Test Centre (CBT) at the cost of N201,575,036.80k, while the School\u00a0 of Environmental studies\u00a0 new complex was constructed\u00a0 at N179,269,036.80k totaling N926,139,472 , saying, that “we\u00a0 \u00a0also\u00a0 purchased a Water Tanker to curb water scarcity on\u00a0 the campus of the Polytechnic and 10 number tricycles procured through Public Private Partnership ( PPP) and Asphalt\u00a0 road linking the\u00a0 Library junction – School of Agricultural Technology and Mass Communications Department were funded through IGR.<\/p>\n

The Rector said, during his remarks at the Commissioning ceremony that\u00a0 “I must thank the Management team for finding it a point of priority to ensure that from the limited resources competing for attention within the coffers of the IGR, we are able to complement the efforts of the TETFUND” .<\/p>\n

He however noted that infrastructural development was part of the\u00a0 Seven points agenda of his administration’s\u00a0 mission and vision at the inception in 2015 on assumption of office as the Rector of the Polytechnic.<\/p>

Dzukogi pointed out that\u00a0 his tenure at the Institution\u00a0 has witnessed Seven Schools from Four Schools he\u00a0 inherited from his predecessors , while assuring to focus on improving teaching and learning environment as most priority areas in the next two years .<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in his remarks while Officially Commissioning the projects, the Guest of Honour at the ceremony, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers,\u00a0 HRM, Alhaji (Dr.)Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, called\u00a0 for sustainable maintenance and adequate utilization of the properties, just as he applauded President Muhammadu Buhari impacting positively on the education sector in the country , especially\u00a0 for the practical developments at the Federal Polytechnic Bida.<\/p>\n

The Foremost Monarch, thereby declared his\u00a0 total support for the Rector,\u00a0 and the Institution with the view that\u00a0 he (Dzukogi) succeeds\u00a0 in his efforts at\u00a0 creating conducive atmosphere\u00a0 for teaching and learning at the Polytechnic, despite the paucity of funds.<\/p>\n

Speaking further, the Etsu Nupe jAlhaji (Dr.)Yahaya Abubakar( CFR) however appealed for peace by all the stakeholders at the Institution in order to enhance meaningful growth and development, while\u00a0 commending\u00a0 the\u00a0 School Management for judicious use of its IGR<\/p>\n

Amongs the signatories presence at the occasion was a member of Niger State House of\u00a0 Assembly,\u00a0 representing Bida South, Hon Bako Shetima who\u00a0 stated in his remarks, that those who were allegedly sabotaging the efforts of the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Bida , Dr. Abubakar\u00a0 Abdul Dzukogi and the Institution were indirectly\u00a0 sabotaging the\u00a0 state, Nigerlites and the\u00a0 Nupe Kingdom.<\/p>\n
