There was a\u00a0 mild\u00a0 drama in\u00a0 Niger State House of Assembly on Thursday in Minna, following the impeachment of the Majority Leader, Hon.\u00a0 Abba Bala Mohammed and his deputy, Hon. Binta Mamman.<\/p>\n

The impeachment of the duo was hinged on perceived neglegence\u00a0 of duties of the two Principal Officers of\u00a0 the Assembly by their colleagues.<\/p>\n

However, during\u00a0 delibrations, the Legislators decided to reverse the impeachment of the Deputy Leader, Hon.\u00a0 Binta Mamman against the backdrops of the fact that she has been in isolation for quite a while now for testing positive for COVID-19 and was said to have started\u00a0 \u00a0recovering from Coronavirus\u00a0 .<\/p>

But the\u00a0 decision of the members for\u00a0 impeachment of the Majority Leader, who is representing Borgu Constituency stood as the Legislators did not back down.<\/p>\n

The Legislators however expressed regrets\u00a0 that the Majority Leader, allegedly\u00a0 abandoned plenary at a time when an\u00a0 important matter of the presentation of the report of the 2021 budget estimate.<\/p>\n

The motion for the impeachment was moved by the member representing Bida 1, Hon.\u00a0 Bako Kasim Alfa,\u00a0 and it was seconded by the member representing Wushishi, Constituency,\u00a0 Hon. Mohammed Lokogoma.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
