A woman identified as Emila Sunday, 21, has been arrested in Anambra State for attempting to sell off her own three month old son for N150,000.<\/p>\n

The Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the arrest of Emila added that she was swooped on by detectives from Ojoto Police Station where she had gone to sell the baby boy because of hardship in Ire village.<\/p>\n

The Akwa Ibom State indigene was nabbed on Tuesday, 24th November, 2020 about 6pm following intelligence report that the 21 years old mother wanted to sell off the baby boy at a give-away price at Ire-village, Ojoto.<\/p>

SP Mohammed reiterated that preliminary investigation has revealed that the woman was attempting to sell her three months old baby boy due to economic realities cum hardship in the country.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, “the baby has been rescued and in good health condition as further investigation is continuing with a view to unraveling the circumstances surrounding the the attempted sale.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang used the opportunity to warn residents and visitors to the state from the act of selling and buying of babies, saying such traffickers, if caught, would face the wrath of the law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
