The Anambra Police Command says the tracking and subsequent arrest of two suspects who allegedly murdered one Mr. Azuibuike Ekwegbalu at his resident in Awka, Anambra State was a breakthrough at unearthing who the criminals were.<\/p>\n

The suspects: Osita John, 21, of Ifite Ogwari in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State but reside at Agu Awka and Achewa Musa, 27, of Abinsel of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State but reside in Amansea Garke, have been reminded after their arraignment in court.<\/p>\n

The police further disclosed that the murder of the victim was carried out by the suspects in the victim’s house on the 9th August, 2020 about 1:30am.<\/p>\n

Azuibuike Ekwegbalu, 43, a native of Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the State was murdered inside his resident at the Commissioners quarters Awka.<\/p>\n

SP Haruna Mohammed, Anambra State Police Command spokesperson disclosed on Tuesday that following the incident, Police detectives swung into action and after intensive investigation two principal suspects were arrested.<\/p>

Explaining further how they were arrested, the spokesperson disclosed that the suspects were napped after painstaking monitoring of their activities.<\/p>\n

They, however, “voluntarily confessed to have scaled into the deceased house and stabbed him on his lower abdomen before carting away two of his handsets.<\/p>\n

“Other exhibits recovered from them included two Android phones belonging to the victim and one knife allegedly used in perpetrating the heinous act.<\/p>\n

“Following establishment of prima facie case against the suspects, they were on Tuesday, 10th November, 2020, charged to Court and subsequently remanded in prison custody.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, has reiterated his commitment to flush out criminal gangs adding that “there is no hiding place for Criminals in Anambra State and that the Command under his watch would continue to fish out and deal decisively with criminal elements in accordance with the law until they repent or relocate from the State<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
