…as 30 Protesters nabbed for Unlawful Assembly<\/p>\n

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Cp Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the detention and orderly room trial of one Inspector Adadu Innocent, attached to PMF 22 Ikeja, for hitting and injuring one Kayode Jaiyeola, of the Punch newspaper with a stick.<\/p>\n

The incident which happened about 11:10am on Thursday at Maryland, Lagos on Thursday.<\/p>\n

In a separate incident, no fewer than 30 persons have been arrested by the police in Lagos for unlawful assembly.<\/p>\n

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in a statement that the protesters were arrested at various locations within the state for unlawful assembly and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.<\/p>

He further explained that other offences for which they are held included violation of Covid-19 protocols\/laws in Lagos State.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that the arrested persons who were putting on crested vests of #REVOLUTIONNOW# with placards, would be charged to court tomorrow, Friday, 2nd October, 2020.<\/p>\n

However, CP Odumosu, who was monitoring the deployment and operational activities of officers and men of the command for the enforcement of the order against unlawful gathering and protest by some unpatriotic individuals, raced to the scene where the Journalist was injured and personally moved him to the Police Cottage (hospital) at Area F, GRA, Ikeja for medical attention and treatment until he was discharged.<\/p>\n

SP Adejobi revealed that the preliminary findings carried out by the Commissioner of Police and eye witness from senior officers on ground, indicated that the Inspector Adadu suddenly attacked the journalist, without any previous altercation or confrontation.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Commissioner ordered for his trial in order to serve as deterrent to others who are fond of engaging in unprofessional and unethical conducts.<\/p>\n

CP Hakeem Odumosu urged the general public to believe in the command’s commitment to sanitizing and reforming the policing system in Lagos State in conformity with the international best practices and standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
