{"id":41422,"date":"2020-07-13T20:37:15","date_gmt":"2020-07-13T19:37:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=41422"},"modified":"2020-07-13T20:37:15","modified_gmt":"2020-07-13T19:37:15","slug":"i-slapped-akpabio-for-harrasing-me-sexually-in-guest-house-ex-acting-md-nddc-joy-nunieh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/i-slapped-akpabio-for-harrasing-me-sexually-in-guest-house-ex-acting-md-nddc-joy-nunieh\/","title":{"rendered":"I Slapped Akpabio For Harrasing Me Sexually In Guest House-Ex Acting MD, NDDC, Joy Nunieh"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"adn ads\" data-message-id=\"#msg-f:1672123782761688618\" data-legacy-message-id=\"173493b89bfe2e2a\">\n<div class=\"gs\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<div id=\":nu\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":nt\" class=\"a3s aXjCH \">\n<div>The last has not been heard from the battle involving the former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh and the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0The former Acting MD recently accused the Minister of sexual harassment while in office.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>She also accused Akpabio of ordering her to award a $1m diesel contract to his girlfriend, another demand she refused.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On his own part, the minister \u00a0according to her claim had alleged her removal from office due to what he termed an act of insubordination<\/div>\n<div>and certificate issues.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Akpabio also said she has no moral standing to accuse him of corruption since she was involved with four husbands; an argument many observers have seen as personal.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The former Acting Managing Director \u00a0speaking on Arise Television has asked Akpabio to explain the real reasons behind the war of words and his meaning of insubordination to Nigerians.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cAkpabio should tell Nigerians the real meaning of insubordination. I had to slap him because of sexual harassment. I am the only Niger Delta woman who can slap him like that,&#8221; she claimed, adding that<\/div>\n<div>\u201cHe should tell Nigerians why I slapped him during a meeting he called at a Guest House. That was why he said I was not removed because of corruption but because of insubordination. He should tell Nigerians what really happened.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>She continued that, &#8220;When I was the Acting MD, I stopped having meetings with Akpabio outside my office and his office because of sexual advances. He knows I am telling the truth. Why was he talking about my four husbands? Does he want to be my fifth husband? I don\u2019t have four former husband. He spoke on my dignity. That is why I am talking now. I didn\u2019t say anything then because I handled him effectively\u201d.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Stating further, she said,<\/div>\n<div>\u201cAkpabio\u2019s girlfriend is the one supplying diesel to NDDC. Because of that, they refused to fix our light. He also directed her to go to the National Assembly to insert a few things into NDDC Budget. She told me that Akpabio sent her to do that and I shouted at her to leave the place immediately\u201d.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Nunieh has however asked her lawyer to sue Akpabio for defamation of character.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0She also denied an allegation she spent N44bn while in office.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe only spent N8bn,&#8221; she said, proving with some documents.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cIt is not true. There is nothing like forensic audit going on. There is only a verification exercise, unlike what Akpabio said. I have no intention of going back to the NDDC but the interest of Niger Deltans must be protected.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cImmediately I assumed office, Akpabio told me to give him $1 million and I said \u2018where will I get that from\u2019? He also promised some people in Abuja that he would give them hundreds of millions of naira just for him to be in total control of NDDC.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWhat people should ask him is: As Niger Delta Affairs Minister, what has he achieved since he was appointed?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cHe also told me to include refugee projects in NDDC budgets. I refused because we have Federal Government agencies doing that. He stinks of corruption.
