The Katsina State Police Command has disclosed the arrest of a notorious rebel at Yantumaki village in Faskari local government area of the state.<\/p>\n

The criminals who are from the Republic of Chad and a Nigerian were identified Usman Mohammed, 30, of Chad Republic and Usman Hassan, from Sokoto state.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that the duo were arrested on the 1st July, 2020 about 03:00hrs, based on credible intelligence.<\/p>\n

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the arrest said the Command succeeded in carrying out a sting operation at Yantumaki village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state and arrested the duo.<\/p>\n

He revealed that during the course of their investigation, Usman Mohammed confessed to be a Chadian rebel and in possession of various types of lethal weapons adding that investigations were still ongoing.<\/p>\n

However, SP Gambo also confirmed the arrest of other cattle rustlers on the 5th July, 2020 about 00:15hrs.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that the DPO Batsari led Operations \u201cPuff Adder\u201d and \u201cSharan Daji\u201d to Salihawa village, Batsari LGA of Katsina state and swooped on about 40 bandits that had attacked the village and killed two villagers while some animals were rustled.<\/p>\n

As a result, the chased the hoodlums into the forest where a gun duel ensued leading to the death of two of the bandits while unspecified number of rustled animals were recovered.<\/p>\n

Similarly, on the 7th July, 2020 about 05:00hrs, DPO Jibia led \u201cOperation Puff Adder\u201d to the hideout of one \u201cDUMBAGE\u201d, a member of a notorious camp of one \u201cIDI DOGO\u201d, that specializes in kidnap for ransom, cattle rustling, armed robbery and banditry.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that the criminal has been terrorizing Jibia, Batsari and Safana LGAs of Katsina state with his gangs.<\/p>\n

On sighting the police, the criminals were said to have engaged them in fierce gun battle but due to intensive fire power of the police, the hoodlums abandoned their loots and escaped into the forest.<\/p>\n

Recovered from them, according to police spokesperson, were 30 cows, 34 goats, three donkeys, unregistered motorcycle (Boxer red colour) and a damaged Techno GSM Handset.<\/p>\n

As various raids of criminal hideouts continued in the state, the arrest of one Bishiri Mamuda, 35, at Yantumaki village, Danmusa LGA of Katsina state was also disclosed.<\/p>\n

Police source revealed that nemesis caught up with the suspect when he sent threat text messages to one Muhammed Dogo, of the same address, that he should pay the sum of N2 million or risked been kidnapped.<\/p>\n

Following discreet investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had already collected the sum of N340,000 and recharge cards of N30,000 from the victim.<\/p>\n

In another development, a police patrol team attached to Dandume Division while on routine patrol at Badole village, Dandume LGA of Katsina state, intercepted a motor vehicle, Golf III, Wagon, dark red in colour, with registration number AY 282 KWL that was loaded with three bags of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp (Cannabis Sativa).<\/p>\n

On sighting the Police, the occupants took to their heels and abandoned the vehicle and the exhibits.<\/p>\n
