Babatunde Oyerinde Abiodun, the owner of CashNation Enterprise Ltd., a music record label, has been arrested at his residence in Lekki Conservative Estate, Lagos.<\/p>\n

Abidoun was nabbed by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) for alleged involvement in cyber crimes.<\/p>\n

Head, Media and Publicity, Mr Dele Oyewale said in Abujat hat his arrest followed intelligence gathered overtime about his suspicious lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Abiodun, who shuttles between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, (UAE), allegedly used the proceeds of his fraudulent activities to fund his lavish lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Investigations linked his fraudulent activities to his domestic staff, Thomas Aliu Akwu, who confessed to having different accounts domiciled in United Bank for Africa (UBA), Ecobank, Guranty Trust Bank (GTB), Zenith Bank and First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and also receiving money for his boss through the accounts.<\/p>\n

Items recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest include a white 2013 Bentley Continental and Mercedes Benz GLK 350.<\/p>\n

He further added that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has jailed six internet fraudsters.<\/p>

The convicts included Josiah Olafuyi; Abdul-Salam Abubakar; Blessing Opeyemi Omoyajowo, Bolaji John Alegbe and Olawale Ayorinde Abdulaliyu.<\/p>\n

They were tried and convicted by Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan for fraudulent impersonation following charges preferred against them by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) for internet fraud.<\/p>\n

Analysis of their sentences indicated that while Abdulaliyu bagged three months imprisonment; Olafuyi got four months; Abubakar and Omoyajowo got six months each, and Alegbe bagged seven months jail term.<\/p>\n

The sixth cqonvict, Aremu Oluwatosin Akindele, was tried by Justice Mohammed Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta and sentenced to 11 months imprisonment, which takes effect from September 1, 2019 when he was arrested.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that besides the prison terms, the convicts are to restitute their respective victims, through the Federal Government the sums of money they defrauded them, as well as forfeit to the government, all items recovered from them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
