Two police officers attached to Bariga Police station have been arrested and are facing disciplinary charges for shooting two persons and killing one of them in Lagos.<\/p>\n

The officers identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Theophilus Otobo and Inspector Oguntoba Olamigoke were said to have opened fire without any justifiable reason killing a teenage girl, Tina Ezekwe, a-17-year old and injuring another one Musa Yakubu, 35 years at Iyanoworo.<\/p>\n

Nationalwire gathered from the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana Bala that the incident took place on 26th May, 2020 about 2245 hours.<\/p>\n

It was further learnt that the Police Officers had fired shots from their pin down point along Berger by third mainland bridge, in a circumstance yet to be determined leading to a stray bullet hitting Tina at Berger Yanaworu Bus stop.<\/p>

Elkana explained that the “bullet pierced through the left upper side of her lap” but was immediately rushed to hospital by a team of Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer.<\/p>\n

However, every effort made by the medical team to save her life collapsed two days later as she died on the 28th May, 2020 about 2129 hours while on admission and the second victim in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu has commiserated with the families of the victims and pleaded for calm while at the same time, ordered a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the girl.<\/p>\n

He added that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would face the full weight of the law if found guilty reiterating his stance on zero tolerance for impunity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
