{"id":37845,"date":"2020-01-23T12:19:58","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T11:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=37845"},"modified":"2020-01-23T12:19:58","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T11:19:58","slug":"governors-resolve-to-address-right-of-way-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/governors-resolve-to-address-right-of-way-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"Governors Resolve To Address Right Of Way Challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Governors under the auspices of the Nigerian Governors\u2019 Forum, have resolved to address the lingering issue of Right of Way (RoW) charges in a bid to deepen broadband penetration in the country and promote a Digital Economy for a Digital Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution followed a presentation made by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), during the meeting of the Governors\u2019 Forum held on the 22nd of January, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He was accompanied to the meeting by Prof Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Funke Opeke, Chairperson of the Presidential Committee on National Broadband Plan (2020-2025).<\/p>\n<p>Dr Pantami discussed the many benefits that an increase in broadband access can have on the economy of the various States.\u00a0 He noted that one of the key benefits is the rapid growth in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of any country that increases its broadband penetration. He then urged the State Governors to adopt the 2013 resolutions reached by the National Economic Council (NEC), which agreed on a maximum RoW charge of N145.00 per linear meter of fibre.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>In response, the Governors acknowledged the benefits of broadband penetration and the Chairman of the Governors\u2019 Forum, His Excellency, Dr. Fayemi, stated that the Honourable Minister should consider the matter resolved.
