Niger State Government has said it has earmarked about N404 million for the training of no fewer than about 8,893 education managers and teachers across the state from the pre 2017\/2018 training programme organised by the state government.<\/p>\n

The Executive Chairman of the State’s\u00a0 Universal Basic Education Board( SUBEB) Dr.\u00a0 Isah Adamu stated this on Friday during a press briefing to kick start the training programme at the Justice Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, in Minna the state capital.<\/p>\n

Adamu noted that the training was a master training programme that will be cascaded down to other schools and accommodate more teachers.<\/p>\n

The SUBEB Boss however conceded that the state has problems with teachers mastering their subjects specialisation,\u00a0 adding that they were already looking forward to a sustainable continuous teachers development programme that will address the challenge.<\/p>\n

“The state is spending N404 million on the training and 8, 893 education managers and teachers will participate in the training.<\/p>

“Managers and teachers will be equipped with skills and resources to effectively teach,\u00a0 reading, writing and other necessary training required. 3,513 will be trained on jolly phonics, 2,650 in cluster training for primary school teachers, 1,125 for science and mathematics teachings, 360 in ICT, 300 caregivers and teachers on the use of Reggio approach.<\/p>\n

“Others are 210 for leadership training for headteachers, 200 for training for quality assurance officers, 160 for cluster training for the JSS classes, 150 for cluster mechanism, 125 for leadership training for education managers and 100 for IRS\/CRS teachers, ” Adamu explained.<\/p>\n

He added that the training was being sponsored under the 2017\/2018 UBEC PTD intervention fund in collaboration with the Niger state Universal Basic Education Board( NSUBEB).<\/p>\n

Accordingly, he said, “we hope that 533,580 pupils from the state’s Public Primary Schools will benefit from the training programmes as a multiplier effect of the teachers trained and we are hoping to scale it up in the next programme depending on the resources at our disposal”.<\/p>\n

He however assured that their mission was to educate the child and do everything possible to ensure that all teachers and education managers are adequately trained and retained to meet up with the current trend to compliment the effort of the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello in ensuring every school age child in the state receives a quality education.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
