A man has been found guilty of the murder of a UK based Nigerian, Ayodeji Habeeb Azeez, who was lured to his death in Bromley on a Sunday night in 2018 while hoping to meet a female friend.<\/p>\n

The convict, Kevin Lusala, 23, of Eldred Drive, Orpington was found guilty of fatally stabbing Azeez, who was 22 at the time, on November 4 in a car park at the rear of Grace Mews.<\/p>\n

Lusala along with three other defendants were on trial for murder and conspiracy to rob\u00a0 and the sentencing of the guilty parties will be on December 20 at the Central Criminal Court..<\/p>\n

Chaise Gray 24, of Harding Court, Lancaster Road and a 17 year-old girl (who was 16 at the time) were found guilty of conspiracy to rob and not murder, as previously charged.<\/p>\n

Another man, aged 18, (although, he was 17 at the time of the stabbing) was found not guilty of murder or conspiracy to rob.<\/p>\n

The jury heard how Azeez had left his home address in Dagenham around 11 pm that day and drove his blue BMW to Anerley in Bromley.<\/p>\n

Azeez had been tricked into thinking he was meeting up with the female defendant who had been in contact with him earlier to arrange to meet up.<\/p>\n

However, waiting for him instead was a group of young men waiting to rob him, including Lusala who was armed with a large knife.<\/p>\n

They set upon Azeez while he was still in his car and although he tried to defend himself, he was overwhelmed.<\/p>\n

Lusala stabbed Azeez multiple times before Gray took to the wheel of the victim\u2019s car and drove away with it towards Marlow Road before abandoning it a few streets later.<\/p>

The victim managed to leave the scene in the opposite direction shouting for help. He staggered to an address in Samos Road where he managed to alert the occupants before collapsing, according to the police.<\/p>\n

Police were called 12 am and attended along with London Ambulance Service and London\u2019s Air Ambulance. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Ayodeji was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:59 am.<\/p>\n

A post-mortem was carried out two days later at the Princess Royal Hospital Mortuary that confirmed Azeez was stabbed a total of 16 times across his body by a knife. It was evident he suffered extensive internal and external bleeding, police said.<\/p>\n

Detectives spoke with numerous individuals including witnesses following the attack before making the arrests between\u00a0 November 9\u00a0 and December 10.<\/p>\n

Three other individuals arrested in the course of the investigation, however, were later released with no further action.<\/p>\n

DCI Mark Cranwell who led the murder investigation from Specialist Crime South said,\u201cThese are a tragic set of events that has resulted in the worst possible outcome \u2013 the loss of young man\u2019s life. A grieving family have been deprived of all that Ayodeji may have become.<\/p>\n

\u201cAyodeji was unsuspectingly led to his death that day by someone whom he was hoping to meet as a friend, I can\u2019t imagine his horrific realisation to find instead, a group of males intent on malicious action.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to thank his family who have shown such courage during the course of the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n
