The best time of day to make love is 3:00 p.m. when most of us are at work.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s apparently when men and women are most in tune with each other\u2019s desires, report said.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, women have high levels of the hormone cortisol, which helps alertness, and are at their most energetic.<\/p>\n

Around the same time, men have elevated levels of oestrogen, making them \u2018more emotionally present\u2019 during sex.<\/p>\n

Hormone expert Alisa Vitti, described 3:00 p.m. as the \u2018afternoon delight\u2019, saying it was the perfect compromise for both sexes\u2019 satisfaction, with men giving women the \u2018emotional support\u2019 they crave while still getting plenty of enjoyment.<\/p>\n

Miss Vitti, the author of the hormone guide WomanCode, said that while men sleep, they produce testosterone, a key hormone in sexual arousal and performance. Levels peak in the early to mid-morning, meaning this is the perfect time for a man to have sex.<\/p>\n

\u2018Men are more interested in initiating sex during this window and are more capable of a better sexual response,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n

However, the late afternoon is another good time for men to have sex because, while their testosterone levels go down, their oestrogen levels rise.<\/p>\n

\u2018While this may not seem like a logical set-up for satisfaction, given the previous endorsement of testosterone, the combination actually makes men more emotionally present during sex and better able to focus on (a woman\u2019s) needs and satisfaction,\u2019 said Miss Vitti.<\/p>\n

\u2018You can see why \u201cafternoon delight\u201d is a thing.\u2019<\/p>

She also said the best time of the month to have sex was during the ten days or so after ovulation when \u2018women experience a surge in oestrogen and testosterone that causes their desire to skyrocket\u2019.<\/p>\n

She added that at this point women \u2018feel way more appreciative of receiving pleasure\u2019.<\/p>\n

However, she said: \u2018The best time for women to get it on, no matter the phase, is midday to late afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u2018This is when cortisol is still abundant and energy is high.\u2019 The trick to having a truly satisfying sex life is for partners to figure out how to synchronise their libidos, said Miss Vitti, who calculated that the best compromise between the two sexes is 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, being at work at this time of day is likely to prove a challenge for many couples. Previous research has shown that the human body produces a surge in sex hormones and a rush of adrenaline first thing in the morning.<\/p>\n

Because of this, sex researchers have suggested that is the best time of day to procreate.<\/p>\n

\u2018In men, testosterone levels peak around 7:00 a.m., while you\u2019ll both be fully rested, with heightened senses,\u2019 said sex therapist Suzie Hayman, adding that women \u2018tend to be more tactile and responsive\u2019 while waking up.<\/p>\n

In addition, the average amount of time spent on foreplay almost doubles first thing in the morning, according to a study from Rutgers\u2019s University in the US.<\/p>\n
