Controversial\u00a0Israeli televangelist\u00a0Benny Hinn, known for his massive \u201chealing crusades” and also associated with what has\u00a0become known as prosperity gospel, has announced that he is undergoing a correction of his theology that\u00a0made him and his family millions.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook live broadcast\u00a0with his followers, Benny Hinn who has been an advocate of obtaining blessings through\u00a0sowing of seeds,\u00a0faithful payments of tithes and offerings, delivered a full-throated rejection of the practice.<\/p>\n

He further stated that he will never ask for\u00a0$1,000\u00a0or whatever amount again\u00a0because he\u00a0thinks the Holy Ghost is just fed up with it.\u00a0Revealing that some Pastors may not invite him to their churches again to preach and raise money for “church projects”, Benny added that the Gospel \u201cis not for sale.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry to say that prosperity has gone a little crazy and I\u2019m correcting my own theology and you need to all know it. Because when I read the Bible now, I don\u2019t see the Bible in the same eyes I saw 20 years ago,\u201d Hinn said as his followers rejoiced.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s an offense to the Lord, it\u2019s an offense to say give $1,000. I think it\u2019s an offense to the Holy Spirit to place a price on the Gospel. I\u2019m done with it. I will never again\u00a0ask you to give $1,000\u00a0or whatever amount, because I think the Holy Ghost is just fed up with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid you hear me?\u201d Hinn asked as his audience responded affirmatively in high spirits.<\/p>

\u201cI think it hurts the Gospel, so I\u2019m making this statement for the first time in my life and frankly, I don\u2019t care what people think about me anymore,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they invite me to telethons I think they will not like me anymore. Because when you look at the word of God \u2026 if I hear one more time, break the back of debt with $1,000, I\u2019m gonna rebuke them. I think that\u2019s buying the Gospel. That\u2019s buying the blessing. That\u2019s grieving the Holy Spirit. \u2026 If you are not giving because you love Jesus, don\u2019t bother giving,\u201d Hinn argued. \u201cI think giving has become such a gimmick; it\u2019s making me sick to my stomach.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Televangelist Benny Hinn is however not the first prosperity preacher to publicly denounce the practice.\u00a0\u00a0Earlier this year,<\/a>\u00a0Joyce Meyer told viewers, \u201cI\u2019m glad for what I learned about prosperity, but it got out of balance. I\u2019m glad for what I learned about faith, but it got out of balance,\u201d explaining, \u201cevery time someone had problems it was \u2019cause they didn\u2019t have enough faith. If you got sick, you didn\u2019t have enough faith. If your child died, you didn\u2019t have enough faith \u2026 Well, that\u2019s not right.\u201d<\/p>\n
