{"id":33413,"date":"2019-07-20T19:16:48","date_gmt":"2019-07-20T18:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=33413"},"modified":"2019-07-20T19:16:48","modified_gmt":"2019-07-20T18:16:48","slug":"niger-insurance-company-dragged-to-court-over-failure-to-redeem-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/niger-insurance-company-dragged-to-court-over-failure-to-redeem-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Niger Insurance Company Dragged To Court Over Failure To Redeem Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563617432264\">In a bid to claim a discharge Voucher worth N4,096,525.43 that has remained unpaid a Lagos businessman Sunday Orioge Emmanuel has dragged Niger Insurance company before a Lagos Magistrate court sitting at Ikeja.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563613514793\">In a particulars of debt filed before the court by a Lagos lawyer, Barrister Adewale Adesokan SAN, the claimant averred that he is a policy holder of two\u00a0 life policy insurance.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563613931365\">In the\u00a0 exercise of his choice to redeem his contribution into his Policy accounts with the insurance company he surrender his policy sometimes in October, 2018.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563614108536\">Niger Insurance acknowledged the receipt of the surrendered policy via a letter dated 16thOctober,2018 and set out his respective net amount in full and final discharge of his policies.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563614360826\">Upon the execution and return of the discharge voucher and return same Niger Insurance company has since failed and neglected to pay him as communicated.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563614508482\">The claimant made several demands for his money from the insurance company culminating in letter address to the Managing Director of the company which said letter was never responded to.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563614729310\">As a result of the defendant refusal to act or respond to the letters, the claimant wrote the commissioner\/CEO of the National Insurance commission.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563615088115\">After a long while futile expectation the claimant instructed the law firm of Wale Adesokan ,&amp; company to demand on his behalf the defendant indebtedness. In response the company pleaded for more time, but nothing was done.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563615720326\">The claimant contended that the defendant has no defence to this claim.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563615780213\">\u00a0Consequently the claimant claim from the defendant. sum of N4,096 525.43 being the value of discharge voucher policy with 21% interest per annum\u00a0 from 19th October, 2018.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div id=\"yiv7254589077yMail_cursorElementTracker_1563616262897\">The Presiding Magistrate O. I.
