Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has marked his 79th<\/sup> birthday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The former president also talked about the anti corruption war being spearheaded by the current administration.<\/p>\n

He however described the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)\u00a0as a toothless bulldog.<\/p>\n

According to the former leader, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu-led EFCC was the only effective head the agency ever had.<\/p>\n

The elder stateman also remembered that, Ribadu\u2019s performance had earned the agency a pass mark. and \u2018the fear of Nuhu Ribadu was the beginning of wisdom.\u2019<\/p>

Obasanjo however, urged President Muhammadu Buhari and all stakeholders to look into the challenges that incapacitated the agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, when Nuhu was handling EFCC, he handled it in such a way that people coined the saying that ‘the beginning of wisdom is the fear of Nuhu Ribadu’ and then the question you will ask is: how did we go down? How did we lose that?,\u201d he asked, stating further that, \u201cNuhu Ribadu is still here, he is still alive. The institution we started together is still there, but what made the institution to become a toothless bulldog? What? And that’s the matter we have to keep looking at so that we don’t take two steps forward, one step aside and three steps back.\u201d<\/p>\n
