{"id":32246,"date":"2019-05-29T20:52:39","date_gmt":"2019-05-29T19:52:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=32246"},"modified":"2019-05-29T21:18:21","modified_gmt":"2019-05-29T20:18:21","slug":"providence-as-obasanjo-others-escape-plane-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/providence-as-obasanjo-others-escape-plane-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Providence As Obasanjo, Others Escape Plane Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nigeria&#8217;s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and 393 others aboard an Ethiopian Airlines plane escaped an air mishap on Wednesday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The former President was expected at the Eagle Square, Abuja venue of the Democracy Day celebration where President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in for a second term in office after winning the last presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report released by the News Agency of Nigeria, some other Nigerians were on board the Boeing 777-300.<\/p>\n<p>They included the Director General of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni, Prof Samson Tunde Adebayo, the Director of Ports Inspection, National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) and other nationals.<\/p>\n<p>The passenger aircraft, ET-901, had departed the Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, at about 9:10 am Ethiopian time which was 7am in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The five hour flight was about to terminate at the Lagos airport when the pilot attempted to land.<\/p>\n<p>The early morning rain was responsible for the pilot overshooting the runway, causing a landing on the third touch-line.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>The pilot according to report however manouvered the plane back air, flying out of the Lagos airport., hovering around between Lagos and areas suspected to be in Ogun State, there was panic on board.<\/p>\n<p>The plane however landed at the Murtala International Airport 20 minutes after the initial false landing.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers on board were however thankful to God for saving the day.
