One of the International Monetary Fund\u2019s top officials warned on Tuesday that \u201cstorm clouds\u201d were gathering over the global economy.<\/p>\n

IMF First Deputy Managing Director, David Lipton, said that governments and central banks might not be well equipped to cope.<\/p>\n

Lipton said that the fund had been urging governments to \u201cfix the roof\u201d during a sunny last two years for the world economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut like many of you, I see storm clouds building, and fear the work on crisis prevention is incomplete,\u201d he said at banking conference hosted by Bloomberg.<\/p>\n

He also warned that strains could leave policymakers under pressure and in uncharted waters.<\/p>
