Card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) belonging to various Igbo groups have decamped en-masse to the All Progressives Congress, (APC).<\/p>\n

The defection event took place on Wednesday in Ifako Local Government Area of the state where the Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard received them into the ruling party.<\/p>\n

The new members said the performance and activities of the state Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, inspired their decision to join the APC, adding that the Governor is determined to take Lagos from mega to a smart city.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the group, their leader, Eze Ohazurike, a close associate of the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, said, \u201cOur decision to support him for another term in office is based on the fact that he has performed extremely well. We can all see that everything that he has done in Lagos state, no other state has been able to do that.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has done very well and there is still continuation of a lot of things to be done, which the governor is actively implementing. We are here reaffirming our position because we have already endorsed him before now.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: “We want the governor to continue his mentoring in all the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state towards effecting the ongoing development at the grassroots.”<\/p>

State Coordinator of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, Hon. Seyi Bamigbade, who facilitated their defection, said the Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard was willing to accommodate more people that would work for the targeted five million votes for Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in the 2019 General Election.<\/p>\n

He said, \u2018\u2019We assure you that your coming is an indication and testimony to the good things governor Akinwunmi Ambode has been doing to enhance the standard of living of the people of Lagos state.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Bamigbade urged Lagosians to use the opportunity of the ongoing collection of PVCs to collect their PVCs, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), officials to show more commitment.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, former Executive Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Fausat Hassan Olajoku, said, \u201cAPC has been waxing stronger and has become more united.
