{"id":23919,"date":"2018-05-25T15:07:43","date_gmt":"2018-05-25T14:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=23919"},"modified":"2018-05-25T15:08:07","modified_gmt":"2018-05-25T14:08:07","slug":"my-husband-is-a-thief-wife-alleges-seeks-divorce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/my-husband-is-a-thief-wife-alleges-seeks-divorce\/","title":{"rendered":"My Husband Is A Thief, Wife Alleges, Seeks Divorce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 35- year- old woman, Remilekun Familusi, on Friday, prayed an Abeokuta Customary Court to dissolve her five-year marriage\u00a0to husband Olayinka, over his alleged stealing habit.<\/p>\n<p>She told the court that their\u00a0five-year marriage was blessed with one child.<\/p>\n<p>Remilekun alleged that her estranged husband was a thief, fraudster and had always been declared wanted by the people he stole from.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was traced to his father\u2019s house in Ibadan sometime ago when he stole in Ogun State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has never been a responsible man. He steals baby food and provisions from supermarkets and brings them to me to feed our baby with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI stopped him from bringing food items to my child who is now five years old when I discovered he was a thief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe never lived together as husband\u00a0and wife;\u00a0he has never shown any sign of being responsible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter giving birth to our daughter in 2013, I left his parents\u2019 house where I was staying then,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiff also said that her husband was a fraudster, saying that he forged people\u2019s signatures and defrauded them.<\/p>\n<p>She further hinted the court that her father, who was also in the court, had, on many occasions, bailed Olayinka from police custody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a time he stole a laptop at Guarantee Trust Bank in one of the branches in Abeokuta. It was my\u00a0father who bailed him when he was arrested,\u201d she said.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>She pleaded with the court to dissolve the union, saying it was never a happy one. She also urged the court to grant her custody of their only child.<\/p>\n<p>She appealed to the court to order Olayinka, to stop coming to her house or the child\u2019s school to cause trouble.<\/p>\n<p>The respondent, while consenting to the dissolution prayer, disagreed with his wife\u2019s claims that he was not responsible.<\/p>\n<p>Olayinka disclosed that he never had real love for his wife, adding that if not for the child in the union, he would have forsaken the marriage for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>Claiming that he has always been a responsible father to his child, Olayinka presented copies of bank tellers, which he claimed was evidence that he was paying to his wife and the mother-in-law\u2019s account for the upkeep of his daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Olayinka told the court that he no longer engaged in stealing, saying that \u201cGod had taken full control\u201d of his life.<\/p>\n<p>Olayinka also said that he approved of the dissolution and prayed the court to grant him access to his daughter, whom he said he had not seen for the past 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>The president of the court, Olalekan\u00a0Akande, adjourned the case until June 6 for possible reconciliation and judgment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>(NAN)<\/em><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 35- year- old woman, Remilekun Familusi, on Friday, prayed an Abeokuta Customary Court to dissolve her five-year marriage\u00a0to husband Olayinka, over his alleged stealing habit.
