General Tukur Buratai, has said the narrative about the defeat of Boko Haram insurgents is now a matter of what people chose to believe as the insurgents\u2019 propaganda now makes more headlines in the media than the successes achieved by the government troops. <\/p>\n<p>Buratai stated this in Abuja on Wednesday during a press conference of the African Land Forces Summit 2018, co-hosted with the U.S. Army Africa.<br \/>\nHe lamented that the development will only make Nigerians to be \u201cheld hostage\u201d and under \u201cunnecessary stress which does not assist for now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Army Chief urged Nigerians not to be swayed by the antics of the insurgents, saying \u201cplease do not be carried away by the Boko Haram propaganda. The narrative is in our minds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that though terrorists are resilient in their operations, residents of Maiduguri and other parts of the northeast will confirm that \u201cBoko Haram has been defeated and restricted within very few isolated areas,\u201d which is why \u201cwe continue to pursue them as they move from one point to another.\u201d<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>According to him, \u201cwhen we say defeat, it means it will not be able to hold any ground. The Boko Haram will not be able to move freely as they were doing before. I assure you that the majority of the people in the northeast now are quite contented and happy with the security situation and that is a major achievement in that regard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Buratai said \u201cthe whole Nigerian Army\u201d will move to Borno this year to consolidate and escort those that left their homes in northern Borno back to their locations and resettle.
