Luck ran out on two suspected members of a kidnap syndicate on Thursday when they engaged men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) in a gun battle as the police tried to rescue an abducted woman.<\/p>\n

Trouble started at about 1:00pm when a distress call was made to the Police that one Mrs Ajayi, a pastor\u2019s wife, had been kidnapped along the Abeokuta-Ibadan road. <\/p>\n

The woman, who boarded a taxi going to Eleweran in Abeokuta,the Ogun State capital, was forcefully taken to the Kila area of Odeda in the state, where she was taken to a bush and held hostage.<\/p>\n

The kidnappers, after sucessfully kidnapping the woman, put a call across to her pastor husband, informing him that his wife was in their custody and that the sum of N2 million should be paid for her release.<\/p>\n

According to the command’s image maker, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the pastor quickly informed the Police, consequent upon which the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Iliyasu, gave a marching order to the officer in-charge (OC) of FSARS , DSP Uba Adam, to go after the hoodlums, rescue the victim and apprehend the suspects.<\/p>

In compliance with the CP\u2019s directive, the OC FSARS led his men to the bush where the suspects were technically traced to, and engaged them in gun battle which lasted for about 45 minutes.<\/p>\n

At the end of the encounter, two members of the syndicate were shot and arrested but died on the way to the hospital. <\/p>\n

One Policeman was also injured and undergoing treatment in an hospital while the victim was rescued unhurt.<\/p>\n

Recovered from the suspects are two locally made single barrel guns and four live cartridges.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Iliyasu, who praised the gallantry display of his men, has enjoined members of the public to always report any criminal incident to the Police on time with an assurance that prompt action will always be taken on such incidence. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
