Hundreds of million people around the world have come to embrace the celebration of St. Valentine\u2019s Day on 14th<\/sup> February of each year but many are still ignorant of its origin.<\/p>\n

The history of Valentine\u2019s Day and the story of its patron saint is shrouded in mystery but everyone has accepted the second month as a month of romance.<\/p>\n

St. Valentine\u2019s Day, as we know it today contains residues of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite?<\/p>\n

Approximately 150 million Valentine’s Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine’s Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.<\/p>\n

The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome.<\/p>\n

When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine\u2019s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.<\/p>\n

Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured. According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first \u201cvalentine\u201d greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl\u2013possibly his jailor\u2019s daughter\u2013who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed \u201cFrom your Valentine,\u201d an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and\u2013most importantly\u2013romantic figure.<\/p>\n

Pope Gelasius declared February 14 St. Valentine\u2019s Day. It was also believed during the Middle Ages in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds\u2019 mating season.<\/p>\n

Valentine greetings were popular as far back as the Middle Ages, though written Valentine\u2019s didn\u2019t begin to appear until after 1400.<\/p>\n

The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt.<\/p>\n

Now, Valentine was believed to have been killed for love and till today he is being celebrated mostly in odd manners by millions most of which never knew the most accurate among the several folklores of Valentines.<\/p>

Jesus deserves more attention as you celebrate the Valentine\u2019s Day. He shared more love. He loves Valentine himself just like he loves you. He doesn\u2019t want anyone to perish. Of course valentine and Jesus may have one thing in common if the legend about Valentine is true anyway.<\/p>\n

I Corinthians 15:4 says: He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. <\/em>\u00a0(New Living Translation)<\/p>\n

Jesus and Valentine were both martyred by same Roman people for love. But while Valentine died for one, Jesus died for all and he also went a step ahead\u2026.on the third day he resurrected again for love. And after 40 days he ascended to the right hand of the father where he is continuing in the work of love-interceding for you.<\/p>\n

Then what would you give in return to this man of love? He only wants one thing-your heart. He does not condemn anyone despite how much his love is betrayed. Remember on the cross he still prayed for his assailants. He is praying for you right now and he wants you to give him your heart.<\/p>\n

You can do this and that is why he would not force himself on you. Why not make him your love today? He is waiting for this invitation. Yes, he want you just as you are and he does not discriminate. Please be his Val today.<\/p>\n

To make Jesus your love today, say this simple prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I have read that you love me despite my state. I believe in you. I believe you died for my sins and rose again for my justification according to your word.<\/em><\/p>\n

I invite you into my heart. Come in and take your place. Make me a new person. Give me the power to love you in return. Be my personal Lord, be my love. I surrender to you. Give me the ability to seek you daily and know you more. I prayed in Jesus name.<\/em><\/p>\n

Friend if you have said this prayer sincerely, expect Jesus to visit you today, he waited this long for this invitation. He is not a mere story like Valentine, he is real and he will give you an encounter. God bless you.<\/p>\n
