{"id":21057,"date":"2018-02-01T22:51:22","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T21:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/?p=21057"},"modified":"2018-02-01T22:55:47","modified_gmt":"2018-02-01T21:55:47","slug":"lagos-pay-contactors-n18-5bn-council-roads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/sub\/lagos-pay-contactors-n18-5bn-council-roads\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos To Pay Contactors N18.5bn For Council Roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lagos State government, on Thursday, said it has paid the sum of N5.563billion as mobilization to contractors to commence the construction of 181 roads spread across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner said the sum of N5,563,697,382.00 released was 30 percent payment for the construction of the roads while the total cost of the roads stands at N18,545,657,940.00.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by the state\u2019s Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, the project was in fulfillment of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode&#8217;s promise to open up more inner roads across the state, following the successful delivery of the 114 roads in September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Akinsanya said the roads would be constructed in phases, noting that phase one will see the construction of one road each in the 20 LGs and 37 LCDAs of which contractors have been mobilised to move to site immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe roads will be done in phases, already phase one has been released. This phase involves 57 roads cutting across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas. To enhance immediately mobilization to site, 30 percent has been given to all the contractors upfront. This is in line with the magnanimity of governor Ambode\u2019s administration to ensure service delivery all year round,\u201d Akinsanya said.<\/p><div data-ad-id=\"32665\" style=\"text-align:center; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;float:none;\" class=\"afw afw_ad_image afw_ad afwadid-32665  \">\r\n                                                            <div style=\"font-size:10px;text-align:center;color:#cccccc;\">Advertisement<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accessbankplc.com\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"auto\" max-width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalwire.com.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Banner-1.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n                                                                        \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p>He said due process was observed in awarding the contracts, adding that bids were opened on November 1, 2017 after which they were evaluated and considered.<\/p>\n<p>He said there are 57 contractors involved in the first phase of the construction with a mandate to deliver in six months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernor Ambode is totally committed to ensuring that Lagosians continue to enjoy good governance.
